Japanese rock gardens, or more commonly known as Zen gardens, have stylized plants and rocks. These gardens are very understated and meant to be relaxing.
After planting the plants into the soil, cover the exposed soil with stones or pebbles. For shrubs or bushes, maintain their round shape by regularly trimming them.
In a zen garden, the focus is to have similar textures of leaves in the garden. For plants with interesting textures, we recommend Hostas, Japanese maple trees and bamboo. For some flowering plants, we recommend azaleas or rhododendrons.
